Purgatory Park 17315 Excelsior Blvd. Purgatory Park is the largest Minnetonka city park at 155 acres. It has more than 2 miles of trails and includes picnic areas, with views of Purgatory Creek and expansive open spaces. Shady Oak Beach 5200 Shady Oak Rd. This 85-acre, fully recreational area offers a sandy beach shoreline and great amenities including a multi-age playground area, lifeguards, swimming, high dive, concessions, changing area, sand volleyball and rentals for canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.
Wayzata Panoway on Wayzata Bay Park and Lakewalk South side of Lake Street, downtown Wayzata The new green space and lakewalk overlooking Lake Minnetonka includes an interactive water fountain, bike and walking path and a plaza with public restrooms. Klapprich Park and Bell Courts 340 Park St. E. Klapprich Park includes an outdoor hockey rink, picnic area, playground and softball field. The Bell Courts provide space for tennis, pickleball and bocce ball with picnic tables, restrooms and a clubhouse also available. Big Woods Preserve 1223 Wayzata Blvd. E. Fourteen acres of woodland preserve, including a walking trail. City Hall Park and Children’ s Garden 620 Rice St. E. Running between city hall and the library, this park features a police memorial, gardens, picnic areas and an observation deck overlooking the lake and downtown. The Great Lawn 851 Lake St. E. Park space located off Lake Street next to The Hotel Landing. Heritage Park at Batson’ s Corner 1106 Wayzata Blvd. E. Gardens, a walking path, benches and picnic areas. Post Office Pocket Park 228 Minnetonka Ave. S. Gardens, a walking path, benches and an armed forces memorial. Shaver Park 220 Grove Lane E. Grilling facilities, picnic tables, sand volleyball court, walking path and historic Trapper’ s Cabin. Wayzata Public Beach 220 Grove Lane E. This supervised swimming beach also features playgrounds, shaded picnic areas, a volleyball court, docks and seasonal watersports rentals. McCormick’ s also offers beachside concessions. Wayzata Depot and Railroad Museum 402 Lake St. E. An observation deck overlooking the lake, benches, gardens, picnic tables, restrooms and a short-term public dock.
