Parks and beaches around the lake

Take in Lake Minnetonka’ s picturesque scenery by visiting one of the many parks, beaches and trails. Trails wind around the lake and offer gorgeous views. There are also playgrounds, picnic areas, a bandshell and plenty of grassy space for annual events or casual gatherings.
Excelsior The Commons Lake Street The Commons is a beautiful space for Excelsior residents and visitors to take in the beauty of the lake. The 13-acre park, which sits on the shores of Lake Minnetonka’ s Excelsior Bay, offers space for activities or a relaxing stroll.
The park has a bandshell, a playground, two beaches, basketball and tennis courts and a baseball field. Design plans were approved for a new concessions stand and plaza with construction beginning sometime this year. Excelsior Parkland Highway 19 in Excelsior The 15.5-acre park consists of community rental garden plots and Studer Pond, a large wetland encompassed by trees and plants that many woodland animals call home.
College Lake, Mitten Pond, Mud Lake and Galpin Lake offer many areas to observe nature and all the beauty it offers.
So-Hi Community Park 435 Division St., Excelsior Put together by the So-Hi Community Park Initiative, the accessible park serves as a spot for children on the south side of highway to enjoy a community gathering and play space. Phase two is beginning this year.
Deephaven Deephaven Main Beach Parkway Street, between Park Avenue and Lake Avenue The beach is Deephaven’ s largest and most versatile, comprised of several recreational areas that can be used yearround. It includes a supervised swimming beach, docks, playground, canoe racks, sport court, trail access and a picnic area with grills. Lake Minnetonka’ s Carson’ s Bay and St. Louis Bay are welcome views from this beach. Thorpe Park Minnetonka Boulevard, parking on Hamilton Avenue Thorpe Park is the centerpiece of Deephaven’ s park system with year-round amenities. It includes a playground, picnic shelter, grills, loop trail, flower gardens, pond, open field, basketball court, two baseball fields, two tennis courts, horseshoe court, warming house, hockey and skating rinks, and sledding hill.
