Greenwood, Woodland: It’ s home

Greenwood
Greenwood is home to approximately 700 residents located just 20 minutes west of Minneapolis. A whopping 50 % of its residential properties are located on Lake Minnetonka and span the shores of St. Alban’ s and Excelsior bays. Not far from the town is the city’ s unofficial downtown in nearby Excelsior as well as close access to the Southwest Regional Trail connection, which extends along the west side of the city, and is a favorite for bikers and walkers alike.
Community members can participate in events throughout the year in conjunction with neighboring communities. The South Lake Minnetonka community as a whole is known for its Memorial Day events as well as the coveted Tour de Tonka in August, a staple for the west metro.
Greenwood is protected by the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, included in the long-held joint powers agreement among the South Lake Minnetonka cities, and resides in the Minnetonka School District.
City council meetings are held at Deephaven City Hall, 20225 Cottagewood Road. Information on all meetings can be found at greenwoodmn. com.
Woodland
Woodland is the smallest of the South Lake Minnetonka cities, with less than 500 residents across its 0.8 square miles. The city is known as a small, single-family residential community posed alongside beautiful views and tree-lined streets. Since it was settled in 1882 and incorporated in 1948, a lucky handful of residents have been able to call Woodland home.
Many of the city’ s homeowners own lots that span two acres or more. One unique exception to this pattern is Groveland Assembly Ground, a 41-home, lakeside community that evolved from an early 1900s Methodist summer retreat campground.
Wayzata Bay houses a variety of the city’ s neighborhoods, with access to Robinson’ s Bay and a small inlet called Woolsey Pond.
Woodland contracts with both the Deephaven police and Wayzata fire departments for public safety services, with zoning coordinated by Deephaven via contract. Like other nearby cities, the city also resides in the Minnetonka School District.
City council meetings are held at Deephaven City Hall, 20225 Cottagewood Road. Information on all meetings can be found at woodlandmn. org.
