Minnetonka hockey fans remember Ruby Rauk breaking into the varsity rotation as a ninth-grader .
Now a senior , she is one of the top all-around Lake forwards She had 29 points last season on nine goals and 20 assists .
HAZEL SCHENKELBERG HOPKINS / PARK FORWARD
As an eighth-grader last season , Hazel Schenkelberg burst onto the hockey scene with 22 points on 13 goals and nine assists . Scoring runs in the family . Her brother Weston is the leading scorer for the Hopkins boys team .
DANIKA WEILAND NWC FORWARD
The top returning player for the North Wright County hockey team , Danika Weiland , had 12 points on eight goals and four assists in her junior year .

With many high school games to choose from in every Lake Conference sport this winter , there are certain hockey games that are must-see events .
Here are 10 dates for games that stand out on the 2024-25 Lake calendar .
Saturday , Dec . 21 : Edina hosts Eden Prairie at 8:30 p . m . in the final round of the Edina Boys Holiday Hockey Classic at Braemar Arena . Edina won the tournament last season , beating Grand Rapids , Elk River and Eden Prairie on consecutive nights .
Saturday , Jan . 4 : The Edina High girls hockey team steps outside the Lake Conference to face off against state powerhouse Hill-Murray in a
2 p . m . matinee at Braemar Arena . Coach Sami Cowger ’ s Hornets have an experienced team led by goalies Reese McConnell and Nora Hannan and high-scoring forwards Whitney Horton and Lorelai Nelson .
Friday , Jan . 10 : In a 7 p . m . girls game that will most likely decide the Lake Conference title , Edina hosts Minnetonka at Braemar Arena . Edina won state last season with a 24-6-1 mark while Minnetonka was third in state at 27-3-1 . Volunteers from both schools are working to make this a sell-out event . The teams are teaming with the Sophie Squad nonprofit to raise awareness for mental health in sports .
Wednesday , Jan . 15 : Lake Conference and Section 6AA rivals from the Edina and Wayzata boys teams battle for first place in the standings in Wayzata ’ s 7 p . m . home game at Plymouth Ice Center . Both teams are hoping to get the No . 1 seed for the Section 6AA Tournament .
Thursday , Jan . 23 : The boys teams from Minnetonka and Eden Prairie hook up in a Lake battle at 7 p . m . at Eden Prairie Community Center . For once , Eden Prairie is the more experienced of the two teams with senior leaders Alex Hall , Johnny Kleis , Chase Klute and Ryan Koering . Minnetonka has two standout senior captains on defense with Devin Berg and Tyson Mahady .
Saturday , Jan . 25 : A 2:30 p . m . matinee between the Edina and Minnetonka boys teams should fill the stands at Minnetonka ’ s Pagel Activity Center . Edina won the state cham-
