Dog Park Happenings
This year’ s 41st Annual Dachshund Races and Costume Contest( Saturday 12 pm- 2 pm) promises tail-wagging excitement as speedy wiener dogs dash, leap, and strut toward glory. Bring your pup and get ready for your close-up as you pose for pictures in the Doggy Kissing Booth. Want to brush up on your dog’ s leash-walking talents? Take a stroll with your pup( s) on our Lake Walk Pack Walk( 10 am). Is it a bird? Is it a Plane? No! It’ s Der Viener Schlinger- Ambassador Hot Dogs air-powered hot dog launcher. Catch the Golden Hot Dog for a chance to win free hot dogs for a year! On Sunday, join the Doggy Olympics! Participate in a series of games that will show off your pup’ s skills and earn prizes( 12 pm – 2 pm). Watch search and rescue demos with retired Wayzata Police Offi cer Jason Gehrman, K9 Loki, and his friends from Minnsarda( 11:30 am). Lastly, get a workout in with your furry friend at Puppies & Pilates presented by Club Pilates Wayzata( Sunday, 9 am, 10 am, and 11 am).
Coaster Cart Derby
Enjoy the epic return of the Coaster Cart Derby! Join us on Saturday, September 6, from 9 am- 12:30 pm for a gravity-fueled, adrenaline-pumping race down Indian Mound Street, in front of the Wayzata Post Offi ce. Pickleball Palooza
Get ready to serve up some serious fun at the Wayzata Depot Pickleball Plaza! Whether you’ re a seasoned player or just paddle-curious, you’ ll love the Picklemart, featuring the latest trends in pickleball gear, apparel, and accessories. Try out a new paddle and chat with local clubs. From 8 am – 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday, catch the excitement of competitive matches in the 3.0 – 3.75 men’ s, women’ s, and mixed doubles brackets. After that, it’ s your time to shine during open drop-in play on the freshly paved courts next to the Depot. Additionally, a 3.75 + tournament will be held on Saturday, September 6th, from 1-3 pm at the Wayzata Country Club, featuring up to 8 teams. Register at jamesjhilldays. com.
