SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES

Recycled and Organic Materials: We utilize certified recycled PET, recycled cotton, and organic cotton for all of our products, as they are lower impact than their conventional alternatives. Using these materials for our apparel helps to keep waste out of landfills and limit resource use for virgin and non-organic material production.

Manufacturing: Our supply chains are comprised of two systems, one within a 250-mile radius in the Southeast United States and the other within a 10-mile radius in El Salvador, with some residual manufacturing in Guatemala. Our HyperLocal supply chains reduce our transportation emissions and support communities and jobs close to home.

Packaging: All retail and wholesale packaging utilized in our supply chain is made of either 100 % recycled paper products, 100 % recycled plastic, or 100 % biodegradable and compostable materials. This includes our corrugated boxes, garment bags, e-commerce retail mailers, clothing recycling mailers, clothing recycling collection bins, postcards, and hangtags.

Labor: We prioritize fair and ethical treatment in our operations, ensuring respect for human rights and commitment to safe working conditions. Our Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct align with international standards, including those from the International Labor Organization( ILO), and are regularly reviewed for compliance. Some of the standards, certifications, and assessments that are part of our compliance program include SMETA, Sedex, CTPAT, WRAP, Higg FEM, and Higg FSLM.

Renewable Energy and Water Recycling: With ongoing investments in solar energy generation and water recycling techniques, our El Salvador supply chain continues to lead in innovation for responsible manufacturing.

Apparel Recycling: We have partnered with Material Return of North Carolina to collect textile waste from both our wholesale partners and retail customers through in-store collection bins, excess inventory take back, inperson event collection, and mailers purchased through our online store. This program ensures that these materials are recycled into new textile products and are diverted from the landfill.

Communication: We aim to engage, educate, and inspire our community through media such as our Recover Readers, Sustainability Tips, Be The Impact Podcast, as well as partner and ambassador spotlights. We additionally engage our community through our Ambassador Program. Through these efforts, we strive to inspire our community to practice sustainability in a variety of ways.

1 % For The Planet: At Recover, we joined 1 % For The Planet in 2017 and have since given over $ 211K through the organization to environmental non-profits across the country. But giving back has been part of our brand DNA since we were founded in 2010. Notably, before we joined 1 % For The Planet, we had already donated over $ 100K to our great community of give-back partners. Our total lifetime environmental giving is over $ 400,000.
