Akima in the news Celebrating our 2025 shareholder interns

ver 10 weeks this summer, Akima’ s shareholder interns embarked on a transformative journey, gaining handson professional experience, exploring potential career paths, and deepening their connection to Akima’ s mission and their shareholder heritage.
To support this growth, 10 shareholder interns were embedded with Akima teams in Herndon, Virginia; Suffolk, Virginia; and Anchorage, Alaska. Throughout the summer, they developed their professional and technical skills by supporting projects in areas ranging from project management to IT services and beyond, working across all five of Akima’ s business groups and Akima’ s corporate“ shared services” administration departments.
Alongside their regular duties, the interns brought their internship journeys to life through creative and mission-driven projects.
Their efforts included gathering content for Akima’ s end-of-summer intern book, producing a video showcasing the value of the program, and highlighting family traditions for Akima’ s annual Shareholder Heritage Month.
Outside the office, the interns immersed themselves in the local culture and regional attractions. In Herndon, where most were based, adventures ranged from touring the White House and Pentagon, attending a Nationals baseball game and a Mystics basketball game, enjoying a Kennedy Center performance, teeing up at TopGolf, and researching historical Alaskan artifacts at the National Archives.
We wish all our 2025 interns the best as they embark on their next exciting chapter. Your journey with Akima has just begun, and we can ' t wait to see where it takes you!
