Linwood Township

Linwood Township , located in Anoka County , celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2021 . The township has a population of 5,334 people based on the 2020 census . Town life includes an active senior center , snowmobile club , several churches , a Family Fun Day event , and plenty of history .
A five-member board of supervisors governs the town and meets 6 p . m . the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Town Hall ( 22817 Typo Creek Dr .). Its current supervisors and their term expiration dates are Jonn Olson , Jan . 2027 ; Robert Millerbernd , Jan . 2027 ; Andy Luedtke , Jan . 2029 ; and Lisa Henrickson , Jan . 2029 . Linwood employs people in administration , planning and zoning , senior center , maintenance , and parks and recreation departments .
A volunteer fire department is led by Chief Darryl Ballman . The fire department is composed of about 30 members and provides fire protection , emergency response and education . Linwood Township contracts with the Anoka County Sheriff ’ s office for a deputy sheriff to provide public-safety and law-enforcement services 365 days per year . The Linwood Fire Association sponsors an annual Booya , typically held in conjunction with Linwood ’ s annual Family Fun Day , and breakfast with Santa events .
Linwood ’ s Senior Center , adjacent to the Town Hall , is an active part of the community year round by hosting intergenerational Easter and Halloween parties , exercise and social opportunities . It is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 a . m . to 3 p . m .,

The Linwood Lake Improvement Association ’ s annual fundraiser , an Ice Bocce tournament typically held in February on the lake , helps to raise money for upkeep and promotion of the lake ’ s health .
RECYCLING AND COMPOSTING
The township has several garbage-hauling companies offering curbside pickup of trash and recycling materials . Residents also have recycling and composting options through the award-winning Linwood Recycling Center at 22817 Typo Creek Dr . NE , open Tuesdays from noon to 4:30 p . m . and Thursdays and Saturdays from 8 a . m . to noon . The center accepts used antifreeze , drain oil , oil filters , appliances , all electronics , scrap metal , fluorescent bulbs , tires , newspapers , plastic bags , Styrofoam , batteries of all types , clothing , ink cartridges , eye glasses for Lion ’ s Club , bikes for Bikes for Kids , and residential paper shredding . A nominal fee is charged for some recycling items . The compost area is for residents to collect yard waste such as grass clipping , leaves and small branches . The organics drop off area is available to the public 24 / 7 .
