“ For years, running was my freedom— the wind on my face, the sense of independence, the joy of moving outside. But when I re-injured my neck and back, even simple movements became painful. I felt like I had lost a piece of myself, both physically and emotionally.
Then I discovered adaptive cycling. The first time I got on an adaptive bike, I felt that freedom again. The wind I felt on my face again while riding that bike reminded me that while my body had changed, my spirit hadn’ t. Cycling gave me not just exercise, but confidence, strength, and hope.
My twin sister introduced me to World TEAM Sports, and right away I knew I wanted to be part of their mission. Riding with this community has been life-changing. It’ s not just about cycling— it’ s about teamwork, courage, and proving that no matter what obstacles we face, we can keep moving forward together. My journey is proof that even when life changes your path, you can still keep moving forward. You just might find a new way to do it— and discover even more strength along the way.”

“ I’ m a 100 % disabled veteran and adaptive athlete. In 2019, a friend introduced me to World TEAM Sports’ Face of America Gettysburg ride, and it changed my life.
What began as a struggle on my recumbent trike has become my“ Meditation / Medication.” Each year, I grow stronger— physically, mentally, and emotionally— and I’ ve found teammates, friends, and mentors who inspire me to set and reach new goals.
Cycling opened the door to other adaptive sports like Para Skeleton, snowboarding, and even one-armed golf. Recently, I completed a 54-mile mountain ride in Utah, and now I’ m training for weeklong endurance events.
Face of America gave me the strength to rebuild my life— and the community to keep pushing forward.”
