The Healthy Habits Club

The Healthy Habits Club from Afterschool Enrichment Solutions provides a fun, actionpacked and positive environment to promote physical, mental and emotional health! Students will explore themes of communication, compassion for self and others, active listening, conflict resolution, gentle exercise, nutrition, mindfulness, and respect. A qualified instructor will guide the participants in hands-on learning through games, movement, creative writing, problem-solving exercises and journaling.

Jr. Firefighter Program

Hinsdale firefighters explain and demonstrate important fire safety practices. Children will tour the Fire Safety House. Firefighters will show participants how to exit a home in the event of a fire and how to recognize potential hazards. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Heart Saver CPR / AED

Taught by the members of the Hinsdale Fire Department, this course is for people with little to no medical training and teaches how to preform CPR, use of AED, and provide first aid. It covers topics such as medical, injury, and environmental emergencies. Upon completion, participants will receive an American Heart Association( AHA) Certificate.

Babysitters Training

Babysitters training provides you to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care safely and responsibly for children and infants in the absence of parents. Participants will develop leadership skills, keep themselves and others safe, help children behave, and learn about basic childcare and basic first aid. This course fee includes an American Red Cross workbook and Babysitter’ s Certificate. Attendance is required for the entire day to receive certification. Please bring a nut free sack lunch and drink.

Safe at Home

Children will learn the importance of behaving responsibly and how to handle themselves when confronted with a challenge, such as answering the telephone or door when parents are away or occupied elsewhere in the home. Topics covered include safety in the home, proper use of keys, what to do in case of an emergency, how to respond to strangers, and general house rules. Fee includes workbook. Disclaimer: This course does NOT endorse children being home alone; That responsibility lies with the parents. This course simply prepares children to be safe and careful when parents are not immediately available.

First Aid for Kids

This American Red Cros class teaches children basic health and safety tips focusing on shock, bleeding, choking, the Heimlich maneuver, and much more! Many hands-on activities will be provided for additional reinforcement. Upon completion, a Red Cross certificate will be received.
