Chamber members hard at work

While the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce was created in 1969, it has since grown to approximately 330 members ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
The Chamber acts as a representative body for more than 30,000 Twin Cities employees. The nonprofit provides resource programs, volunteer opportunities, networking initiatives and experiences for members, residents and students to be collaborative spaces together to connect.
The Chamber hosts more than 125 networking opportunities each year. Some of those opportunities include special luncheons, speed networking, progressive networking, legislative / candidate forums, women’ s networking roundtables, brown bag lunches, human resources roundtables, an annual golf tournament, the Career & College Expo with Eden Prairie High School, a Job + Internship Fair with Eden Prairie High School, the“ Everything Spring” Home, Landscape & Garden Expo and the all-day conference Entrepreneurs Bootcamp. Thousands of participants pour into Chamber events annually.
The Chamber of Commerce also represents its members on local, state and federal legislation – advocacy efforts made possible through the Public Policy Committee, which meets at 7:30 a. m. on the first Thursday of every month at the Chamber office. This committee exists for members who may be interested in the legislative, transportation and business advocacy issues that affect Eden Prairie and the surrounding areas. During the meetings, members discuss local issues, communicate positions to local metro and state officials, and spend time with the people forming current policy and future legislation.
Other committees include the Ambassador Committee which meets the first Tuesday of every month plus four additional site visits, the Women’ s Networking Group which meets the third Thursday of every month and the Emerging Leaders Steering Committee that collaborates with the Chamber staff to plan the annual Twin Cities Young Professionals Summit and other monthly networking events.
These strong partnerships see effects through the city of Eden Prairie and the Eden Prairie Independent School District, creating a collaborative relationship that offers both community members and students the opportunity to work together.
The Chamber also provides support to an opportunity for Eden Prairie High School students called the Future Leaders Student Membership Program, boasting more than 250 students who have been through the program.
The Chamber operates under a three-year strategic plan, which ensures a renewed vision for the future of the Eden Prairie business community. The plan’ s three goals are to grow the influence of the city’ s business community through advocacy and thoughtful public policy initiatives, strengthen the organization and ensure growth through bold leadership, and ensure the future prosperity of the Eden Prairie marketplace.
The organization’ s board of directors is composed of volunteer Chamber Member business representatives, including Pat MulQueeny, current president of the Chamber, and Kirsten Barott, relationship and events manager.
