Fair hitches to‘ Stripes and Summer Nights!’ theme

The theme for the 2025 Dakota County Fair is“ Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights!”
Fair organizers aim to entertain with a diverse schedule of events each day and evening to attract fairgoers to enjoy and perhaps return since there is free admission.
The fair board looks forward to excellent attendance again this year during the seven days Aug. 4-10, at 4008 220th St. W., in Farmington.
Visitors can stroll across the fairgrounds and experience summer delights at the fair.
The fair offers a fee to park on the fairgrounds, although savings can be found with weekly parking passes. This year the seven-day fair opens 8 a. m. Monday, Aug. 4, and at 7 a. m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 10.
Among the fair attractions are Dakota County 4-H Club animal barns and competitions, arts and crafts, photography displays, and winners in categories for produce, flowers, plants, homemade baked goods, salsas, craft beer, and wines.
Each evening the fair offers grandstand entertainment. Some events are free and some are ticketed like the rowdy rodeo and Demolition Derbies that have typically sold out.

Weeknight grandstand events are the free ATV Rodeo at 7 p. m. Monday, Aug. 4, and Mutton Bustin’ and Barrel Racing at 7 p. m. Tuesday, Aug. 5. Ticketed events are the Bull and Barrels Rodeo at 7 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, and three evenings of the Demolition Derby at 7:30 p. m. Aug. 7 and 8, and 6 p. m. Aug. 9.
The fair carnival offers challenging games and thrilling rides for children and the young at heart.
