SCARCE: Those little plastic tags that close our bread bags are also recyclable, but it takes a little more work. We collect these and mail them off to SCARCE( www. scarce. org) for recycling in partnership with Danielle Cares for Chairs, an organization that takes the tags for recycling and uses the proceeds for clients in need of wheel chairs— another double mitzvah! Since these tags are so small they are not able to be recycled curbside or through normal recycling programs. If you eat all the bread, take the plastic bag to the grocery store bin and mail off the tags you are really eliminating all the waste from these items.
Matthew 25: Ministries: The orange opaque prescription pill bottles can be put to use by Matthew 25: Ministries( https:// m25m. org / pillbottles). They accept donations of clean, empty, recapped, label and residue-free plastic pill bottles for inclusion in shipments of medical supplies to developing countries.
This America Recycles Day, consider incorporating one or two of these recycling options into your routine. Small changes can have a big impact and help set an example for the next generation to learn how to care for the Earth and become responsible stewards of our environment.
