Minnesota Zoo – The zoo is home to more than 2,700 animals such as Grizzly bears, tigers, coyotes, lemurs, leopards, Komodo dragons and various birds species. Dakota County Fairgrounds – The sprawling acreage of the Dakota County Fairgrounds on Farmington’ s southern edge is home to more than just the Dakota County Fair. Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center – The home of the NFL’ s Minnesota Vikings is located in Eagan at 2600 Vikings Circle. The site played host to the team’ s training camp for the first time in 2018, and it will be open to the public in 2025. The site has a Minnesota Vikings Hall of Fame and stadium that has hosted high school football games and concerts. More is at vikings. com / schedule / vikings-events / training-camp.
Caponi Art Park – 1220 Diffley Road, Eagan. Outdoor sculpture garden designed within the natural setting. Special events take place in the park throughout the year. Includes one of largest outdoor amphitheaters in the region. More is at 651-454-9412 or caponiartpark. org.
Cascade Bay – 3830 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan. Cascade Bay is the largest outdoor municipal waterpark in the upper Midwest. Includes the Twin Falls, Typhoon and Hurricane water slides and the Lazy River, zero-depth entry points, snack bar. Also has Captain’ s Course, a nine-hole miniature golf course. Dakota Curling – Dakota Curling Holyoke Plaza, 20775 Holt Ave., in Lakeville features multiple sheets for curling, a warm room, a bar and restaurant, and viewing from three sides of the ice sheet, including an elevated mezzanine level for second story observation by coaches and officials. Elko Speedway – A NASCAR-sanctioned racetrack, with a steeply banked paved 3 / 8-mile oval that allows two and three- wide racing. The speedway also has a bar and restaurant featuring live music, bingo, and post-race parties. Elko Speedway is at 26350 France Avenue, Elko.
