Giving back to others is easy
People who are looking for a volunteer outlet can serve in a variety of organizations in Burnsville.
More than 2,000 volunteers work with 360 Communities every year in Dakota and Scott counties. The nonprofit human services agency offers more than 50 services to those in need. 360 Communities is based in Burnsville 501 E. Highway 13, Suite 112, and provides services such as a food pantry, clothes closet, furniture bank, financial help, sexual assault services, domestic abuse safe houses and support groups, child care resources and referral, and violence prevention community education. 360 Communities has been collaborating with District 191 for more than 20 years on the Partners for Success. Approximately 60 active members make up the Burnsville Rotary, which focuses on community and international service projects. Founded in 1976, the organization has contributed thousands of dollars on the community level to local organizations. It typically meets at 12:05 p. m. The Burnsville Breakfast Rotary typically meets at 7 a. m. the second and fourth Thursday at the Original Pancake House, 14351 Nicollet Court. It supports a wide range of community initiatives. The Burnsville Community Foundation is an organization that was founded in 1998 to beautify the community, both visually and culturally. It has funds to provide memorial benches, sculptures, and winter lighting projects, and the Community Betterment Fund has produced multi-cultural events and education for residents. Foundation 191 has as its mission to is to enhance, enrich and expand educational opportunities within the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District. The Executive Board typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Diamondhead Education Center, 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy. More information is at foundation191. org.
The Burnsville Savage Lions Club, which was founded in 1966, undertakes a number of different projects throughout the year, including the annual Dictionary Project, food drives, and fundraisers to help fund projects throughout the community. The Burnsville Senior Center allows participants to learn something new through one of its many classes for seniors. Options include woodcarving, Tai Chi, painting, defensive driving, and more.
