Preparing students for careers, college
Bloomington Public Schools offers a wide array of programs and services to prepare today’ s learners for success in a rapidly changing world.
The district includes an early childhood center, nine elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, a fully online K-12 school, alternative learning programs and specialized academic programs. The district offers a variety of preschool, child care, early childhood and community education programs.
Preparing students for the future is no small task. Bloomington Public Schools develops personalized learning opportunities for children from birth to graduation. Guided by its Strategic Plan, the district supports each student’ s academic, career, personal and social development through goal-driven learning experiences to empower and equip all learners to succeed.
Specialized programs include computer science immersion schools, highly-regarded gifted and talented programs
and Bloomington Career and College Academy, which provides college-level instruction in select in-demand career areas. There are immersion schools at the elementary level for science and the arts, as well as opportunities to earn college credits in high school through concurrent enrollment, Advanced Placement, Post Secondary Enrollment Options( PSEO) and College in the Schools courses.
Bloomington Public Schools is governed by a seven-member board of education which meets at 7 p. m. on the fourth Monday of the month. School board meetings are carried live by BEC-TV. Information about schools, programs, news and events can be found on the district’ s website.
