Certified Flight Teacher sign off to take the Private Pilot Knowledge test Instructional Focus : This course offers students the opportunity to obtain their Private Pilot Knowledge Certificate [ written ]. Pilots , air traffic controllers , aviation mechanics , airport service / management positions , aircraft dispatchers , and meteorologists benefit from the completion of this exam , for pilots the test is required . With the use of current software and FAA teaching strategies implemented by a Certified Flight Teacher , this course is designed to prepare the student to pass the Federal Aviation written exam [ the Knowledge Test ]. Successful completion of the class can also earn the students college credit at Minnesota State University Mankato [ Articulated credit ] 4 credit hours in AVIA 150 . Note : The Federal Aviation Administration requires students to be United States citizens in order to take this class . Students will be required to use the Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application ( IACRA ). IACRA is a Federal Aviation Administration website that allows people to apply for new Airman Certificates . The entire application process takes place on the website , including electronic signing of applications , and at the end of the process all the necessary documents will be sent electronically to the Airman Registry .

• Maritime Commerce
• Airway Science and the Federal Aviation Administration
• Economic , social and political systems within which the various modes of transportation operate
• The advantages and disadvantages of various modes of transportation
• Regulation and deregulation affecting national and international transportation
Projects , Activities , etc .: Students are given the opportunity to explore global transportation and the logistics process through individual and group projects , field trips and industry tours . Instructional Focus : Active learning using state of the art aircraft , rail , tractor trailer and ship simulators with hardware interface .

• Understand the procedures for obtaining a CDL and the importance of compliance with applicable regulations .
• Demonstrate a systematic procedure to conduct accurate and efficient vehicle inspection .
• Demonstrate how to safely perform basic control maneuvers : shifting , backing
• Learn about the importance of speed and space management when operating a tractor-trailer .
• Learn the importance of preventive maintenance and servicing
• Understand a variety of subjects that together make for an alert , healthy , and safe driver .
Projects , Activities , etc .: The Introduction to Commercial Driving course prepares students for entry into the trucking and logistics industry , through individual and group projects , field trips and industry tours . Instuctional Focus : Active learning using state of the art tractor trailer simulators with hardware interface .
