Historians Note
Salvete Omnes!
The chosen theme for this year ' s scrapbook is nature portrayed in a mosaic style. The 2025 – 2026 NJCL theme, Concordia parvae res crescunt(" In harmony, small things grow "), resonated with me most through the imagery of nature. In times of peace, agriculture flourishes, wildlife thrives, and life itself grows abundantly. Flowers are delicate and easily trampled, but in times of harmony, we are more mindful of our steps, allowing even the smallest blossoms to bloom.
Likewise, times of peace have long allowed art and culture to flourish. As many of you know, the Romans were renowned for decorating their buildings with intricate mosaics. Each mosaic was composed of countless small pieces called tesserae. Individually, they may seem insignificant, but together, arranged in harmony, they create truly beautiful artwork.
The JCL is much the same. It is made up of countless individuals who are nurtured by this organization, forming friendships, creating memories, and inspiring one another. It is these seemingly small moments and connections that, together, make the Classics community so meaningful and enduring.
It has been an incredible honor to serve as your Historian. Thank you for allowing me to preserve your memories. I hope you enjoy this scrapbook as much as I enjoyed creating it.
