PUBLIC SAFETY
The Department of Public Safety and Security is responsible for providing security services for Gwynedd Mercy University’ s Main Campus. The Public Safety staff enforce the university policies and federal and state laws for campus administrative purposes only. Public Safety and Security investigates campus criminal incidents for administrative purposes as they relate to its campus judicial process.
Public Safety and Security Staff are not Police Officers. Criminal incidents may be investigated for possible criminal prosecution by the local Lower Gwynedd Police Department or other law enforcement agency with jurisdiction. The Vice President of Student Services and Dean of Students manages disciplinary action for matters that are violations of university rules. The Director of Human Resources manages violations of conduct as they relate to employee conduct. The Title IX Coordinator, in conjunction with the Vice President of Student Services and Dean of Students and the Director for Human Resources, manages violations as they pertain to Title IX and Sexual Harassment.
The safety and security of the University is the shared responsibility of all who live, work, and study on the campus. Members of the university community are encouraged to be familiar with personal safety and encouraged to report any suspicious or criminal activities to the Department of Public Safety and Security at 215-641-5522. The University uses a multifaceted approach for community notifications of emergency situations such as Emergency phones that are strategically placed to assist during emergency situations and a Mass Notification System that notifies community members via phone, email, and text messaging. The Public Safety and Security department is located in St. Brigid Hall.
