UNV-002
Major Exploration
UNV-002 is designed to help students explore majors in a holistic, interactive, and intentional manner. Students will discover, examine, and refine academic and career interests as well as learn about the major / career decision making process through self-assessments, evaluation activities of majors and careers, faculty guest speakers, and implementing an action plan. All University Studies first-year students are required to take UNV-002 during their first semester; although, it is open to all students. Please note this course will not count towards a student ' s total credits for graduation.
UNV-100
GMercyU Success
This is the first course in the core curriculum and will transition students into
the Gwynedd Mercy University community. It has three main goals: fostering
the development of academic skills, educating students in the Mercy
tradition and the mission of the University, and supporting the positive
growth of interpersonal and social skills, all of which are necessary for
success in the collegiate environment. In addition, this course introduces
students to the concept of service to society reflective of the Mercy charism.
Finally, UNV-100 seeks to develop student engagement with academic and
co-curricular programming throughout the University; therefore, students
will be required to attend approved events on campus.
UNV-101
GMercyU Service
As part of the UNV program, this course nurtures student development for service to society within the Mercy tradition through participation in a service activity and a guided written reflection. In addition, the course emphasizes leadership, research, collaboration, and oral communication skills, as well as fosters social and personal responsibility.

Counseling Skills
This course is designed to help students become more proficient in using the basic psychological counseling techniques used in the helping relationship. Through active out of class and residency experiences and trainings students will develop basic counseling skills. Mock counseling practice and video demonstration of learned counseling skills is a key component of this course. This course has a residency requirement.
