Keiss Library
Keiss Library provides students with the resources and assistance they need to be successful in their academic career. Resources include 60,000 + physical materials, including books, audiovisual, and special collections, access to 45,000 + full-text electronic journals through subscription databases, 330,000 + electronic books, and 80,000 + academic streaming films. Librarians and staff are available year-round during library hours to help students navigate resources.
The Keiss Library webpage( https:// gmercyu. libguides. com) provides access to the library’ s catalog, online resources, research guides and tutorials, and information about library hours, policies, and services. Electronic resources are available from any internet connection. Off-campus users are required to login with their GMercyU username and password.
The librarians at Keiss Library offer reference services in person and virtually during library hours, assisting users in developing research strategies, using online resources, and accessing scholarly materials. Research assistance is also available via text message, live chat, email, and telephone. When the library is closed, reference assistance is available 24 / 7 via a link to AskHerePA. Librarians also engage in classroom research skills and information literacy instruction sessions.
Keiss Library offers study spaces equipped with technology for individual and group study, including open tables, quiet spaces, and reservable study rooms.
Students can print from computers in the library or their laptops. Each student is allotted 300 pages of prints per semester; if needed, students can purchase additional prints online. Keiss Library also has a book scanner and photocopier; there is no charge for using the book scanner, and photocopies are deducted from the 300 pages of prints allocated per semester.
The library is fully wireless. Students who bring their own laptops can connect to the campus network and Follow-Me Printer.
If research materials are not available in the Keiss Library collection, users can request journal articles, books, dissertations, theses, and DVDs through the library’ s interlibrary loan( ILL) service. Requested articles may be available within three business days to a week; physical materials may be available within two weeks.
A current GMercyU ID is required to borrow materials. Books and DVDs circulate for three weeks to students. Reference materials and course reserves, including books and videos that instructors designate for use by a specific class, must be used in the library. Course reserves are available at the circulation desk.
