This course provides an introduction to the theoretical perspectives of human development and fundamental concepts concerning the brain and behavior, memory, motivation and emotion, personality development and social behavior. In addition, it examines changes in cognitive, emotional and social development across the life span and how they are impacted by the social environment. Enrollment in this course is restricted to nursing majors.

Introduction to Trauma Informed Care
This course is designed to introduce students to the meaning of trauma, the incidence and prevalence of trauma and the effects of trauma on human development. Students will learn what it means to provide client centered care in a trauma informed manner, and will be provided an introduction to evidence based trauma treatments. Active participation of students in this class will include open discussion of material presented as well as practical application of the course material. Self-assessment, awareness and growth are central to the student experience in this course.

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the theories and concepts involved in the psychology of sport, a field of study in which the principles of psychology are applied in a sport setting. These principles( which include but are not limited to goal setting, focus, motivation, and imagery) are often applied to enhance the performance of teams and individuals. Additionally, the role of personality and social settings that influence thinking, performance, and the development of sportsmanship will be explored. |

Dementia: Awareness Understanding Bp Cr
This course defines dementia and identifies characteristics of Alzheimer ' s disease and related dementias. In addition, it examines the many different aspects of dementia: assessment and diagnosis, communication and behavior management, and end-of-life care. It also, focuses on best practices for care and provides practical resources for working with individuals with dementia that can be applied to professional careers in the field of geriatrics.
