Health Assessment in Nursing |
This lab is designed to develop health assessment skills across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills essential for using health and physical examination as tools for nursing assessment. Normal and abnormal history and physical assessment findings are differentiated. Biological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural dimensions of the individual are explored. Health promotion strategies including risk factor reduction as they relate to the adoption of healthy lifestyles are identified. Opportunities are provided to practice health assessment. |

Nursing Care of Adults |
This course focuses on the physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural forces that influence the health of the adult population. Students will utilize the nursing process as a framework to apply nursing knowledge. Course concepts are grounded in evidence-based practice to promote, maintain and restore health. Topics related to safety, oxygenation, ventilation, circulation, perfusion, ingestion, digestion, absorption, elimination, regulatory, urinary, sensory input, movement and the nurse patient relationship. Emphasis is placed on application in the adult health clinical setting and simulation laboratory. |
