Contemporary Math for Business
A survey of introductory college mathematics. Topics include the structure of number systems, applications of decimals and percentages, proportions and unit conversions, problem solving, sets and logic, analyzing arguments, and number theory. A continuation of MTH 103. This course covers concepts of algebra including linear equations, inequalities, quadratics with applications, relations and functions, graphing, geometry, counting techniques, probability, and statistics.
A continuation of MTH 103. Topics covered include linear equations and inequalities, quadratics with applications, relations and functions, graphing, geometry, counting techniques, probability, and statistics. Students will learn how to apply mathematical concepts to banking, accounting, commerce, marketing and the stock market. This course will provide students with the business skillsets necessary to perform financial analyses and to make informed financial decisions.
MTH-136
Topics of Mathematics
An exploration of a selection of contemporary applications of mathematics, including topics such as scheduling, optimizing routes using graph theory, identification numbers, voting, and optimizing profit through linear programming. Emphasis is on problem solving and real-world applications.
MTH-141
Elementary Mathematical Models
An introduction to modeling real-world situations using mathematical functions. Topics include linear and exponential modeling techniques, logistic models, solving and simplifying equations using algebra, graphing, regression, and rates of change.
MTH-142
Elementary Functions
A precalculus course designed to prepare students to take MTH245. Topics include polynomial, rational, algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and their applications.
MTH-231
Discrete Mathematics
A study of discrete structures with applications. Topics include formal logic,
sets, functions, sequences, growth of functions, complexity of algorithms,
applications of number theory, mathematical induction, recursion, counting
techniques, relations, graph theory, and trees.
MTH-234
Probability and Statistics
An introduction to probability and the analysis of data with a focus on statistical inference. Topics include descriptive statistics, random variables and probability distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, correlation, and regression analysis
MTH-235
Linear Algebra
A course in linear algebra with applications. Topics include systems of linear
equations, matrices, determinants, n-dimensional vector spaces, eigenvalue
theory, general vector spaces, and linear transformations.
