Teaching, Practicum, or Internship), except with permission of the College Dean. In the Graduate Nursing programs, non-matriculated students may only take NUR 530, NUR 610, and NUR 510 or electives approved by the MSN Program Director.
Concurrent Pursuit of Two Bachelor’ s Degrees
A student who has been accepted into a bachelor’ s degree program and wishes to earn a bachelor’ s degree in a second area of study must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 after the completion of 30 credits. The permission to pursue this second degree will be granted by the Provost / Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Dean( s) and must be obtained in writing. Students will be required to complete a minimum of thirty( 30) credits beyond the minimum specified credits for the first degree in addition to the general education courses required by both degrees. General education courses completed in the primary bachelor’ s degree do not need to be repeated. The student must meet all minimum grade requirements of both degree programs. Upon meeting the degree requirements for both bachelor’ s degrees, two degrees will be awarded to the student.( Example: One major program with BA degree, the second major program with BS or BSN degree).
Single Degree for Two or More Major Programs
Students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, after the completion of 30 credits or permission of the Program Director, may elect to pursue a degree in a second major program, as long as it is the same type of degree as their primary major program. The permission to pursue such a degree must be granted by the Dean( s) and obtained in writing. The student is responsible for all major courses, specified by the Dean of the second major area of study.( Example: Two major programs, both earning a BA, BS, or BSN degree)
Evaluation of Transfer and Other Credits: Undergraduate Students
Courses completed more than 10 years( 7 years for science courses) from a student’ s date of acceptance are judged on a case-by-case basis as to their applicability in fulfilling current program requirements. This general University provision does not replace existing provisions of a College that are more restrictive in nature.
Every student is given individual attention at Gwynedd Mercy University. Transcripts from other colleges and universities are evaluated by the Admissions Office and Registrar’ s Office, in consultation with the Dean, to determine Gwynedd Mercy University ' s course equivalencies for appropriate transfer credits.
Transfer students who matriculate at Gwynedd Mercy University beginning in Spring 2025 are required to earn a minimum of 30 credits at GMercyU to earn a bachelor’ s degree; students who matriculate prior to Spring 2025 are required to earn a minimum of 50 credits at GMercyU to earn a bachelor’ s degree. This credit requirement does not change regardless of the number of credits accepted in transfer. Additionally, transfer students must complete at least half of the credits required for the major at Gwynedd Mercy University. The number of credits in the major varies within each degree program. Programs with discipline-related accreditation may have additional requirements. Credit requirements for students transferring into an associate degree program will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
