Accounting |
This course is designed specifically for non-accountants who realize the value of possessing basic accounting knowledge. Emphasis is placed on accounting as " the language of business " from the view of managerial decision-maker. The course focuses on the relationships among balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and statement of retaining earnings rather than the minute aspects of their preparation. The course also takes the student through the basics: what accounting information is, what it means and how it is used. It is an overview of the accounting process rather than a detailed explanation of accounting procedures.( 8 weeks). |

An in-depth study of GAAP( Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS( International Fin Reporting Standards) reporting issues dealing with earnings per share calculations, investments, derivatives, post-retirement accounting for benefits and pensions, lease accounting, revenue recognition, in-depth analysis of cash flow statements, and full disclosure. |
