Testing Requirements: The program follows the University’ s policy regarding testing and academic integrity. Additionally, since the program is competency based, all students are required to successfully complete competency testing as outlines in the Program and Clinical Manuals.
Technology Requirements: All students in the Respiratory Care Program are required to enroll in a webbased program known as Trajecsys prior to entry into the clinical component of the program. Trajecsys is used to maintain and track attendance, clinical performance, and clinical competencies. Information on how to register with Trajecsys will be provided by the Director of Clinical Education during the orientation to clinical. All fees for this service will be the responsibility of the student.
Professional Memberships: Student membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care( AARC), the professional society for respiratory care is a requirement of the program. Student membership of the AARC is offered at a reduced rate and is the responsibility of the student. Membership in the AARC automatically qualifies the student for membership in the Pennsylvania Society for Respiratory Care( PSRC) at no additional cost.
Costs: As noted above there are additional costs outside of tuition associated with this major. These include but are not limited to vaccinations, travel, parking, books, scrub suits, professional society memberships, clinical record-keeping software( i. e., Trajecsys), and equipment required for clinical rotations. These costs vary dependent on clinical site and insurance coverage. Students can expect approximate costs for the above to range from $ 500- $ 1200 while matriculating in the program.
Credentialing: All students should complete NBRC Therapist Multiple Choice Examination and the NBRC Clinical Simulation Examination( RRT examinations) before completing the fourth year of the program. Students eligible for the BHS degree after the third year( due to the acceptance of transfer credits) should complete the RRT credentialing process within one year of graduation to maintain good standing with the program.
