Program Admissions Requirements and Procedures: Qualified applicants should have completed high school or college chemistry and / or physics, satisfied the University’ s of English and mathematics placement test requirement, and interviewed with the Program Coordinator, either in person or virtually. A tour of respiratory care department is desired but not required. All applicants complete an online application, https:// www. gmercyu. edu / undergraduate-application, submit official high school transcripts and college transcripts if applicable, and submit a letter of recommendation demonstrating academic ability to be successful in a rigorous academic program and possession of strong moral character. All qualified applicants go through an interview process where academic eligibility is assessed, and all program requirements and policies are disclosed.
Internal / External Transfers: Admissions requirements and procedures for internal transfers are as noted above. In addition, the student must submit letters of recommendation from the student’ s advisor and a former teacher reflecting their ability to be successful and must have a minimum GPA of a 2.5 or higher in higher in the natural sciences. External transfers must satisfy the same requirements as noted above and will have transcripts evaluated by Gwynedd Mercy University’ s Registrar’ s Office to ensure they are comparable and meet accepted academic standards(“ C“ or better). Internal and external transfers will be accepted on a space-available basis only.
Internal Transfer students applying for the Bachelor of Health Science degree must complete all requirements of the AS degree and are immediately accepted with the program faculty ' s approval.
External transfer students seeking acceptance into the program must hold an active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist( RRT) credential, receive transfer credit for all comparable respiratory care courses and complete all General Education and Core Curriculum courses outlined on the respiratory care curriculum sheet. Except for the respiratory care research course, the NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist( RRT) credential will serve as“ credit— for registry,” and designated respiratory care courses previously completed at other institutions will be transferred and credited against the respiratory care curriculum. The student will be required to pay appropriate fees. The RRT credential must be within five years of the year of graduation from the BHS program or re-credentialing will be required. The 5-year requirement will be waived for all students actively practicing(> 20 hours per week) and maintaining active status( satisfy state and professional CRCE( Continuing Respiratory Care Education) and licensing requirements). A minimum grade of“ C” must be maintained for all concentration, mathematics, and science courses( a“ C-“ is not acceptable). Applicants must have achieved a grade point average( GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 quality scale for entry into the program and an official transcript from each college attended must be submitted. At least forty-five credits must be earned at Gwynedd Mercy University.
