Consortium Participation
Acadeum GMercyU is a participating Member of Acadeum. Acadeum is a virtual academic consortium in which member institutions collaborate in sharing online, credit-bearing courses and programs. As a member, GMercyU makes available to its students online courses offered by other teaching institutions. A student may register for an online course offered through Acadeum after consulting with their advisor and receiving the necessary approvals.
Students who take an Acadeum course are billed through GMercyU at the prevailing per credit rate.
Acadeum CourseShare is a platform and service that facilitates easy access to online courses at other institutions for students in need of a course not available at GMercyU. An advisor may recommend the use of Acadeum CourseShare when a student needs a course to reach graduation or needs to take or retake a course out of sequence and that course is not offered at GMercyU. Details on how Acadeum should be used can be found in the Acadeum CourseShare Implementation Policy.
Concurrent Enrollment Policy for Online Programs Because of the intensive nature of the University’ s accelerated courses, concurrent enrollment in courses at the University or another institution while enrolled in accelerated courses at GMercyU is highly discouraged. However, under certain circumstances and on a case-by-case basis, students may request approval to concurrently enroll in additional courses. Written permission from the Program Director and the Dean is required in order to enroll concurrently in more than two courses.
Repeated Courses Students must refer to their respective program guidelines regarding repeated courses and maintaining eligibility in their major. Students may repeat a course required in their major curriculum or a prerequisite for each course in their major only once. Failure to meet the minimum grade requirement for the repeated course may result in program dismissal. Credit is earned only once. Both grades are recorded on the transcript. The lower grade is flagged with parentheses {()}, and the higher grade noted with an asterisk {*}. Only the quality points for the higher grade are used to calculate the grade point average.
Change of Major Students who would like to change their major must complete a Change of Major / Minor form and submit it to the Registrar’ s Office, with all required signatures, by the deadline published on the form. Forms can be obtained through the student’ s advisor and are also posted on the Registrar’ s Office website. Change of Major forms received before the end of the drop / add period will be processed immediately. Change of major forms received after the drop / add period are normally processed when received by the Registrar’ s Office, except for students going into or leaving the Frances M.
