Program Description: The Exercise Science Program is a multidisciplinary program designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in human performance, exercise, and health-related fields. It centers on the study of the human body, physical activity, and health.
Program Learning Outcomes: PLO1 Demonstrate proficiency in health and fitness assessment techniques and interpret results accurately. PLO2 Design and implement safe, effective exercise programs for diverse populations, including apparently healthy individuals, those with increased health risks, athletes, and special populations. PLO3 Apply scientific principles from anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition to concepts in exercise assessment, prescription, and programming. PLO4 Evaluate and interpret research related to exercise science and apply evidence-based practices. PLO5 Develop and demonstrate effective professional communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey exercise science concepts to lay and professional audiences. PLO6 Explain the relationship between physical activity, exercise, and health promotion in disease prevention and overall wellness. PLO7 Apply quantitative reasoning skills to collect, analyze, and interpret health and fitness data and human movement patterns. PLO8 Demonstrate knowledge of industry guidelines for minimizing risk and managing legal and organizational processes in professional exercise science settings.
