THE MICHAEL J . FOX FOUNDATION 2024 YEAR IN REVIEW
Project and advisory council made up of members of federal agencies , people living with Parkinson ’ s , care partners , researchers , clinicians and other experts , ensuring much-needed collaboration between the public and private sectors . The advisory council will provide regular reports to Congress and the Secretary of HHS .
The legislation is modeled after the successful National Alzheimer ’ s Project Act ( NAPA ), signed into law in 2011 , which has paved the way for improved therapies and greater access to quality care for patients . The federal government now invests $ 3.8 billion in Alzheimer ’ s and dementia research annually , a seven-fold increase since NAPA became law .
Steps to implement the National Plan to End Parkinson ’ s Act began over the summer , with HHS beginning to develop and establish the National Parkinson ’ s Project and the advisory council . The process will require input and planning support from government agencies and other stakeholders , including MJFF .
