UK Coaching Awards 2024
As Patron of UK Coaching , I am delighted to welcome you to Leeds for the UK Coaching Awards 2024 . Tonight provides an opportunity to come together and celebrate the remarkable contributions of our nation ’ s coaches and the significant impact they have , as mentors , on the people they support .
These Awards are a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm that coaches bring to their roles , shaping not just better performers , but well-rounded individuals .
I am pleased to support UK Coaching ’ s invaluable work to help coaches at every level within our communities . Coaches are the lifeblood of sport , creating opportunities for people to engage in , and enjoy , physical activity , whether at the grassroots or elite level . For many athletes , the first meaningful connection they make in their sporting journey is with a coach , and this bond can be transformative .
Achieving success , at community level right up to the world stage , is a collaborative effort , and it all begins with the relationship between an athlete and their coach . The journey to future success and personal growth is paved by meeting the right coaches at the right time . The significance of this chain of connections cannot be overstated .
I saw the success of these coaching chains in Paris during the Olympic Games in the summer , and subsequently at a Reception at Buckingham Palace in October , where I met Team GB and Paralympics GB coaches and thanked them for their important contribution .
I would like to thank you all , regardless of the level at which you coach , and across a range of activities and settings ,
for your invaluable contribution in making a significant difference to the lives of those you coach . Your influence and steadfast commitment are cornerstones of our nation ’ s health and well-being .
