Holy Angels educates students for life
Richfield ’ s Academy of Holy Angels aims to offer its students opportunities in education , faith , athletics , activities and community .
Established in 1931 , the private , Catholic , college preparatory high school welcomes a diverse student body from 110 grade schools across the Twin Cities and provides a curriculum of excellence to more than 600 students in grades 9-12 . AHA students , faculty and staff , parents , alumni and friends are actively committed to one common goal : educating each student for life . The culture of the school is one where individuals respect each other , serve those in need and embrace each other ’ s differences .
The school provides its students with academics through a wide catalogue of courses , which includes 20 Advanced Placement classes . The school offers specialty diplomas in both STEM and theater . Home of the Stars , 90 % of AHA students are active and engaged in more than 50 different co-curricular sports and activities . In the past several years , the Stars have earned more than 30 state tournament appearances – ranging from soccer to football to Knowledge Bowl .
Families and staff take pride in their focus on service . For instance , the Student Government conducts a schoolwide
Christmas basket drive each year , providing more than 40 local families with household items , food and gifts . In 2017 , AHA received the MISF School Program award for The AHA Way , a program that was developed to create a caring , welcoming , inclusive and respectful school environment . In 2020 , a student-led Diversity Club was founded to create a safe space for students of color to feel welcome and free to speak of their experiences , and to allow for discussion and connection within the school community . In 2021 , AHA was named a Cognia School of Distinction , being one of 59 schools worldwide to receive the honor and achieving ratings nearly 100 points over all schools that were assessed .
After operating as a female-only school , AHA converted to a co-educational model in 1972 . The iCenter for STEM Education opened in 2021 and is the school ’ s most recent capital project ; it includes over 7,500 square feet of space to support ever-changing and growing curriculum needs .
