of East Ridge and that adds to the challenge while trying to qualify individuals and relays for state .
There was one minor change to the section with St . Paul Johnson / Harding added this season to bring the number of teams to eight . Tartan , White Bear Lake and Roseville are the other teams in the section .
“ We will need to perform at a high level to defend our championship and advance athletes to the state meet ,” Luke said .
Outlook — Expectations are always high for the Ponies and this season is no different , but it is a process and the team never takes that success for granted . Numbers remain strong and the internal competition and lineup flexibility are also important against the league ’ s stronger opponents and especially in the True Team meets .
The Ponies will also be challenged quickly with East Ridge showing up as their first conference opponent .
The team is working to repeat as conference and section champions ( True Team and MSHSL ) and finish among the top three at the True Team and MSHSL state meets .
“ Our expectations are to train and prepare to give us the best chance to attain the above goals ,” Luke said .
