2024 PCS Annual Report: Leading Together | Seite 21

Clinical Informatics Practice Council( CIPC)
In operation since 2008, the CIPC focuses on guiding, reviewing and approving the work and outcomes of healthcare informatics. In 2024, their key accomplishments included a significant effort to streamline flowsheet documentation for efficiency and effectiveness in clinical care, successful implementation and team member support for quarterly electronic health record upgrades, ongoing review of clinical content, and improving interpreter and PRN medication documentation to align with regulatory updates.
“ Our council sets the standard for nursing decision making and ownership of professional practice at this organization. My voice feels powerful, appreciated and validated when I attend CIPC,” said Gracie Cort, MSN, RN, Clinical Practice Specialist, Level 6 Surgical, Anschutz Medical Campus.“ As a member of CIPC, it is imperative that I have a pulse on my own practice as well as the practice of my peers. By contributing to decisions and bringing recommendations for changes, I see real pride in my colleagues to function at the top of scope. Together, we are bettering nursing practice at Children’ s Colorado and facilitating our capacity to accurately capture the stories of patient and families in our system.”
Coordinating Council
As the professional governance structure continued to grow, a Coordinating Council was launched to integrate and monitor structure, process and outcomes of PCS professional governance councils. The Coordinating Council supports collaboration across the division, ensuring team member voices are represented and that the work of the councils aligns with the strategic and operational priorities of the organization.
With membership comprised of the chairs of each professional governance council and operations and leadership councils, the Coordinating Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Chief Nursing Executive( CNE) and collaborates to support the councils in achieving the goals that have been established for PCS at Children’ s Colorado. This cross-functional group shares best practices across councils, increases transparency around active projects and priorities across the division of Patient Care Services, and has direct access and support from the CNE to ensure alignment and help remove barriers to achieving council goals.
The professional governance structure at Children’ s Colorado continues to evolve, with a new council focused on education, professional growth and development to launch in 2025. Together, these representative groups help create a culture where accountability, relationships and decision-making practices are fostered and can flourish. The ongoing evolution of the governance structure helps ensure those values can thrive and team members are enabled to advance their shared purpose across the system of care.
