Transradial cardiac catheterization
A standard offering for many patients since 1996 on the Dallas campus , more than 40 % of the total coronary angioplasties were performed via a transradial ( through the wrist ) approach in fiscal year 2024 . The transradial approach does not require strict bedrest as is usual for a catheterization from the leg . Patients can eat almost immediately and are able to go home in a few hours . For some patients lying motionless on their back for up to eight hours post-procedure may be challenging ; patients typically resume normal activities in a few days .
