Manish D . Assar , MD , FACC , FHRS - Medical Director
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas is recognized as a national leader in electrophysiology ( EP ). With a focus on outcomes and patient satisfaction , training of physicians , clinical research , and a commitment to remain on the leading edge of advances in this specialty , the electrophysiology program on the Dallas campus is recognized as a premier program . The success has resulted from years of experience as a high-volume electrophysiology program at a quaternary care center utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach .
The collaborative team is comprised of experienced fellowship-trained electrophysiologists , interventional and heart failure cardiologists , cardiac surgeons , imaging specialists , specially trained nurses , and researchers focused on heart rhythm studies and clinical trials .
The high-volume program includes the diagnosis and treatment of patients with :

• Atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter

• Supraventricular tachycardia including Wolff Parkinson White syndrome

• Ventricular fibrillation

• Premature ventricular contractions

• And other heart rhythm disorders

New registry participation includes National Cardiovascular Database and Registry ( NCDR ), Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Registry™ and EP Device Implant™ Registry
EP lab mapping technology
The EP labs at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas are equipped with sophisticated 3D mapping technology , decreasing the need for fluoroscopy and improving procedural time efficiency . The arrhythmia-locating technology combines magnetic and current-based technologies for real time display of catheter locations , as well as intra-cardiac echocardiography images of the heart ’ s chambers . These maps contain anatomical , electrical voltage , electrical activation times , and ablation data .
inHEART AI for complex ablations The Dallas EP lab brought online a cloud-based imaging service for complex image-guided cardiac ablation procedures . The technology , inHEART , helps enhance the efficiency and safety of complex cardiac ablation procedures by converting images obtained through common radiology procedures into more usable 3D cardiac models via proprietary segmentation algorithm . “ Full four-chamber cardiac anatomy , collateral structures and tissue characteristics can now be seen in a 3D-rendered model to help the physician understand the patient ’ s unique anatomy and any abnormalities ,” says medical director for electrophysiology , Manish Image courtesy of inHEART D . Assar , MD , FACC , FHRS . “ Praveen Rao , MD , FACC , and Grant Heberton , MD , on the medical staff , have taken the lead on this exciting new technology .”
