Q & A with Highland Rebel Zac Huckabee . By : Easton Fletcher
. You are entering your senior season . What does it feel like knowing your high school career is coming to an end ? It ’ s pretty scary , especially knowing after this football season I may never get the chance to play football again .
. You play a pivotal role on this year ’ s team . Talk about your role on this team and the importance that you have a good year in order for the Rebels to be successful . My role on the team this year is to be a leader for my team and do whatever I can to help my team succeed . As a two-way player , it is important for me to have a good year in terms of knowing our scheme and helping “ coach ” the underclassmen .
. What has it been like to play at Highland ? What has that experience been like ? It has been an honor to play at Highland . The experience has really made me a better person . Overall , it has helped me make memories that I will cherish forever .
. What is it like to play for your brother Coach Sterling Stowers ? What is that dynamic like on and then off the field ? It has been a dream come true to play for my brother as a coach . Our dynamic on and off the field is great . We take up for one another , and we always have each other ’ s back . I know that he ’ s going to push me more to be a good football player but to be an even better person !
. Highland made great strides last year and now you guys are being touted as one of the top teams in the conference . You guys can ’ t sneak up on anyone this season . How will you guys handle those new expectations ? We can ’ t under estimate anyone no matter who it is . We learned that the hard way last year , and we have to prepare every week and never think anyone is a “ weak link .” We try not to focus on the hype stuff . We just focus on ourselves and getting better daily .
. You have served as the teams QB1 in the past but now move to wide receiver . Discuss the move to a different position . What was the reasoning for that and how do you feel about such a move in your senior year ? The transition to Receiver was just kind of one of those decisions where it was needed in order to get our pass game involved . I have loved playing receiver and safety as I feel like it was needed in order for us to be successful .
. Since you were the quarterback how can you use that to your advantage to help you play receiver ? Since I played quarterback in the past , I can use it to my advantage because I already know our system . Now I can play freely and help succeed .
