Macy Slater has played basketball for the past 12 years , but it has been a part of her family since before she was born . As a senior at Brookland , she has the opportunity to be a part of one of the , if not the most decorated basketball classes in school history . The 5 ’ 10 forward has been a part of a school record 30 win season , an undefeated conference title , and state tournament runs , reaching the quarterfinals in her sophomore season . As she suits up for one last run in the red and black , Slater is very aware of what a special thing she is a part of .

Slater says basketball runs deep in her blood . “ We have always been a basketball household ,” she said . “ My dad has been coaching since before I was born , and both of my older brothers played throughout their time at Brookland . My mom has always been my biggest cheerleader , and my entire family has supported me throughout my basketball journey .”
Brookland head basketball coach Mitchell Weber agrees . “ One of my favorite things about Macy is that she ’ s ALL Brookland . Mom and dad are both from here , brothers are from here . Brookland basketball means a lot to her and her family . I think that helps elevate her game play at times , especially in heightened moments .”
