ITP vs . OTP
After spending a few days in Atlanta you ’ re bound to hear someone say the letters ITP and OTP . While these letters have no meaning to anyone outside of Atlanta , they essentially help define the residential areas surrounding I-285 ( The Perimeter ) as ITP , inside the perimeter and OTP , outside the perimeter .
ITP and OTP are much more than physical locations though , they also represent a way of life . ITP contains all the major neighborhoods in the Atlanta city limits . This area is the heart of Atlanta , where the city ’ s major businesses , government , and entertainment lives . While ITP is the hub of Atlanta city life , not all neighborhoods are the same . Some are buzzing with activity , others are tamer and more secluded , and many are a mix of both .
Many major OTP neighborhoods have the advantage of being a short drive away from ITP , while being distinctly their own place away from all the intown activity . These areas have more space and greenery within the neighborhoods themselves and around their individual properties . In general , all OTP neighborhoods have a major perk in common - more housing bang for your buck .
While native Atlantans will tell you that The Perimeter will always be a major defining line for the city , the truth is that you can find great features of each on either side of the road . Truly , there is something for everyone in Atlanta !
