Each year , to celebrate Newspapers in Education month , staff of the Star News teaches 5th grade students of Parker and Lincoln elementary about the news and advertising departments of a community newspaper .
After learning about the functions and services the editorial department provides our community , the kids were taught how to design an ad and then assigned to design one for a local business . Today , we ’ re presenting you some of the ads they produced along with the winners of our contest . We loved the creativity that came forward . The kids did a great job ! We think you will enjoy them , and hope you patronize the businesses that took part in the fun and rewarding endeavor .
