Devoted to Home Builders Association leadership for over 28 years as both a builder and an associate member , he was the Builders Association of Greater Tampa ’ s first Associate of the Year in 1977 and its President in 1989 . He was similarly honored by the Florida Home Builders Association , where he served as Second Vice President , led membership efforts and created a state Trades Council to serve the subcontractor and supplier members . He was FHBA ’ s Associate of the Year in 1983 . ( Elected to Hall in 1998 ; also a member of the National Hall of Honored Associates )
