" We mainly grow timothy and alfalfa for forage . Recently , we have added some cereals into the rotation to be taken off as silage . This was mainly to get a little better control on certain weeds . We decided to try Altorado barley because of its high yield potential and good standability - two of our biggest factors with irrigation .

The crop was seeded at 2.5bu / ac with Raxil Pro seed treatment . It had a normal preburn and in crop herbicide . Fertilizer was broadcast before seeding and it was also land rolled . Altorado yielded way above expectation at 17.5 ST / ac , 90 days after seeding . The seed also stood very well especially considering the massive crop that it was . We will definitely be seeding Altorado barley next year ."
