The first day of our Alaska CHARR Foundations event was the Hospitality Career Fair !
We had a variety of opportunities available from furthering one ’ s education with University of Alaska Anchorage , University of Alaska Fairbanks , and AVTEC , to being able to travel across the state and world with Alaska Premier Tours , Holland America Princess Cruise Lines , and the Unites States Coast Guard .
The Anchorage area had some of their biggest employers in attendance including The Sheraton Hotel , The Bridge Co ., Moose ’ s / Bear ’ s / Broken Tooth and Ecolab .
The Alaska CHARR Educational Fund has been working with employers and industry workers to help build a stronger more knowledgeable workforce . This includes increasing the accessibility to industry training and the diversity of courses offered . The Alaska CHARR Educational Fund receives STEP ( State Training and Employment Program ) grant funding , which funds approximately 60 % ($ 200,000 ) of the program . Thank you to the State of Alaska Workforce Investment Board for supporting the Alaska hospitality industry .
