City provides public health services

The city of Bloomington Public Health Division is dedicated to promoting , protecting and improving the health of the community .
Whether it ’ s through direct services to individuals and families or policies that improve the population ’ s health , the Public Health Division facilitates many healthy initiatives throughout the year .
Many public health services are offered at the Public Health Center , 1900 W . Old Shakopee Road . Preventive services such as health screenings and immunizations are offered at low to no cost . Available services by appointment include free blood pressure screenings weekdays and tuberculin skin tests ( testing for tuberculosis ). Skin tests are available for $ 40 .
The Public Health Division offers immunizations to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured through the Minnesota Vaccines for Children program and the Uninsured and Underinsured Adult Vaccines program .
Immunization clinics are offered from 12:30 to 4 p . m . every other Tuesday . There is a $ 20 donation requested per vaccination , although no one will be turned away if unable to pay .
The Women , Infants and Children ( WIC ) Supplemental Nutrition Program provides nutrition education , breastfeeding and chestfeeding counseling and food benefits for eligible people who are pregnant , postpartum or have children up to 5 years of age . To schedule a WIC appointment , call 952-563-8993 . To bring health services to more residents , the Public Health has rolled out a mobile community health hub in the three communities it serves : Bloomington , Edina and Richfield .
