EVENTS
Day Three of Drop Your Anchor in Kodiak started with another wonderful breakfast at the American Legion Post # 17 . Then , attendees gathered at The Kodiak Marketplace for Sessions IV and V .
Dr . Melissa Hughes led the day and talked about “ Inside an Engaged Brain : Why Employees Leave and What They Need to Stay .” An author and TED Speaker , Dr . Hughes combined her experience in teaching and research in neuroscience as she took us on a journey of how our guests ' brains work and how to make them work better to reach our organization ’ s goals ; Darwin ’ s Theory graciously sponsored her .
Not to be outdone , Juneau / Lynn Canal CHARR sponsored our final speaker , Chelsea Wilde , VP of Local Sales & Marketing , US Foods . Chelsea is a highly regarded sales executive with an impressive track record of over 14 years specializing in cultivating high-performing teams . She spoke about “ Unlocking the Menu : Essential Tools & resources from US Foods to Elevate Your Profitability
Our final night culminated with our annual “ Heroes of Hospitality ” Awards at The Kodiak Marketplace . Specialty Imports went above and beyond by sponsoring and providing wine and beer pairings with the meal .
We were proud to honor our Heroes of Hospitality and celebrate of all the hard-working individuals and businesses that make up the Alaska hospitality industry !

Thursday October 17 th

Alas , all good things must come to an end . This morning , everyone headed over to the American Legion Post # 17 for our last breakfast and speaker session . This session , titled “ Inside the Dream Team : Lightning Talks with the Alaska CHARR Dream Team , was informative and important so that our membership knows who is who within the association staff .
