Due to this incredible achievement , and the fact that he was an amateur , never making a dime at his beloved sport , it is said that Bobby Jones was gifted a grand house in Tuxedo Park by the City of Atlanta as a gesture of thanks and appreciation .
Bobby Jones was a highly respected man , not just for his golf prowess but more importantly for his sportsmanship , humility , and character . He was considered a true artist on the golf course . He mastered the law at Emory , and practiced , all while changing the sport forever by co-founding and co-designing Augusta National Club while living in his Tuxedo Park home .

This year ’ s Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse will be extraordinary . Walking the halls and rooms decorated by talented Atlanta designers will carry extra distinction this year . After all , this is Bobby Jones ’ house - a man who landed at Normandy on D-Day , made golf films for Warner Bros , and was awarded the Freedom of the City of St . Andrews , Scotland , the first American since Benjamin Franklin . And of course , lest we not forget that he won 13 majors in golf . Yet , as directly quoted , Bobby simply said when interviewed years ago . “ My wife and children came first ; then my profession ; finally , and never in a life by itself , came golf .”
A Hero indeed .
