The Gerald “ Jerry Smith ” Academic Practice Partnership for Nurses is an initiative named in honor of Reno-philanthropist Jerry Smith . Established in 2023 , this program supports students in the University of Nevada , Reno ’ s Orvis School of Nursing by providing tuition aid , mentorship and hands-on training . It aims to address the nursing shortage in Nevada by nurturing our next generation of highly skilled nurses with the students ’ commitment to Renown employment following graduation . Donors have generously contributed over $ 1 million to support tuition for up to 24 nursing students annually .
The Conrad Breast Center was established by a $ 5 million gift from Reno-philanthropists Jeanne and Raymond Conrad , within the William N . Pennington Cancer Institute . Targeted to open in 2025 , the Conrad Breast Center will be located in the Specialty Care Center at Renown South Meadows Medical Center . With infusion , surgery and imaging services all under one roof , this center will substantially improve care for those in our community .
The Helmsley Simulation and Innovation Center is made possible through a generous gift from the Leona M . and Harry B . Helmsley Charitable Trust . This funding will cover the construction of a new educational center , near the Renown Regional Medical Center campus , dedicated to enhancing our health system ’ s clinical training capabilities .
