Two-day course that covers all personal finance topics related to retirement : income , living expenses , inflation , taxes , insurance ( Medicare , long-term care , life insurance , etc .) estate planning and investment strategies . A course book is included that attendees can keep and follow along with throughout the course . As part of the class , case studies and real world scenarios are offered to help attendees apply each topic to their own personal situation . Mahtomedi Community Garden
Put your green thumb to work by renting garden space at the District Education Center ( DEC ). Garden plots are 8 ’ x12 ’. Fee is $ 40 for the growing season . ( limit one per household ). Fee covers spring , summer and fall gardening . Plants , seeds , tools and elbow grease are the responsibility of the gardeners . Register on the Mahtomedi Community Education website . First come , first registered basis .
Registration opens on Wednesday , Feb . 15 at 8:00 AM .

They were famous for their ill-fated stranding in the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains . Eighty-one starving people , more than half of them children , suffered , and many died , miserably . Some turned to cannibalism when boiled bark and boot leather ran out . Less well-known is the story of how other men marched bravely into the “ camps of death ” to try to rescue them .
