IL STATE RULE 260.95 Junior classes are open to boys and girls who are eight ( 8 ) years of age and not yet 21 years of age on or before September 1 of the year previous to the Fair . All animals shown in junior classes must be the property of the boys and girls showing them . If the same animals are shown in both the open classes and junior classes , they shall be shown under the same exhibitor ’ s name .
1 . Release time is Saturday after 6:30 pm . NO EXCEPTIONS ! 2 . Entries close July 14 3 . A pen fee of $ 5 per pen for Junior Exhibitors unless exhibitor has pens reserved in the Open Show . No bedding is furnished . 4 . Each exhibitor will be limited to showing two ( 2 ) entries per class , collecting two ( 2 ) premiums in each breeding show and limited to two ( 2 ) separate breeds . 5 . Each exhibitor must have owned all sheep individually . 6 . If entering in a pair or group class , all animals must be owned by the same exhibitor . 7 . All sheep must be registered and recorded on the recognized books of record for Breed . Registration papers must be in the name of the Junior exhibitor ONLY ! Registration papers must be available ON THE GROUNDS AT ALL TIMES FOR COUNTY AND STATE OFFICIALS TO CHECK . 8 . Registration papers will be checked before being allowed to show . 9 . See Special Health Rules – 2023 Exhibition Livestock Health Requirements . 10 . Lamb class ages will be split according to Open Show rules . 11 . Showmanship may not be won two ( 2 ) consecutive years . 12 . Sequence of show will be at the discretion of the superintendent and will be posted by the judge ’ s table in the sheep show ring
13 . All Junior Open exhibitors selling in Saturday ’ s Junior Livestock Auction must be registered for the auction by Thursday of Fair Week and must be weighed on Tuesday evening or Wednesday , see Open Sheep Rule # 12 . This is the exhibitor ’ s responsibility and animals cannot be sold if this is not done .
14 . The American and Illinois Southdown Sheep Association require that all Southdown be shorn within five ( 5 ) days of the show . Wool may be left below the knees and hocks and also below the eyes and muzzle .
15 . The National Shropshire Association requires that all Shropshire be shorn within five ( 5 ) days of the show . Wool may be left below the knee and hocks and also on top of the poll .
16 . In order to show in pair and flock classes , you need to show in single class first , per State guidelines .
